what amuses me is that im not surprised in the slightest! :-) you should watch the regional news here- NOTHING surprises you when it comes to Liverpool. People are usually out stealing or shooting each other (to fit a stereotype which tragically seems to becoming more and more real) rather than bothering about what's about them. Plus the whole area around Liverpool is a building site at the moment in preparation for 'European City of Culture 2008'- what more could you want to promote that then a viking boat!! How old is this story? Cos it sounds really familiar (but vaguely so too- as in a couple of months back...) like I say, the area's a goldmine for random artefacts!
